Caregiver GROUP FEEDBACK

"The HeartBrothers Caregiver Support Group has honestly been a lifeline for me. Before finding this, caregiving felt incredibly isolating—like I was carrying a heavy, invisible weight that no one else could see. Being part of a support group transformed that experience from something I carried alone into something shared.
What has mattered most is having a safe, confidential space where I can say the things I don’t always feel comfortable saying out loud—feelings like guilt, frustration, resentment, or exhaustion—without fear of being judged.
Most importantly, the support group has helped me become a better caregiver. By learning coping strategies and taking care of myself, I’m better equipped—emotionally and mentally—to care for my loved one."

"Joining the HeartBrothers Caregiver Group is exactly what I needed to do in a time where I felt helpless trying to support my husband during his pre-transplant journey. It has only been two months since being part of this group and it has been an incredible source of strength for me. It’s a group of genuinely supportive human beings who make sure no one feels alone. It’s a sounding board, a place where we can vent, cry, laugh, and persevere together. It’s a safe space to ask questions, share fears, and offer encouragement. Knowing there are people who truly understand what I am going through has made a huge impact on how I support my husband, myself, and my family. I am ever so grateful for finding this group."

"The Caregiver Support Group is so important to me because it’s just the place where we can get advice based on other people who have been there, ask questions, share the wild ride of the unknown, and share the wealth of information we have learned.

This program started as part of Shonda’s doctoral project, and I’m thankful every day.

There is a definite need for Caregivers to share their knowledge, experiences, and a safe place to express their feelings in a judgement free zone. I don’t know what I would have done without their unconditional love and support."

"I found this support group in the depths of absolute despair and loneliness. The day I found it just so happened to be the day of their zoom meeting. It was like a lifevest cast out in my sea of sadness. Shonda and the members welcomed me with open arms and ears and I have felt a sense of peace ever since.
It really is a necessity for people like me. Alone. I’m a city that I’m not from and navigating a horrific experience with my beloved son.
Thank you so much. I’m forever grateful."
