In September 2013, eccentric Portuguese billionaire Count Chiquinho Scarpa posted to Facebook he would be burying his Bentley. A media frenzy ensued about his rash behavior.
When the day finally arrived, he did not, in fact, bury his car. Instead, he made a grand media statement on what was the first day of National Organ Donation Week, stating,
“I didn’t bury my car, but everyone thought it absurd when I said I would. What’s absurd is burying your organs, which can save many lives. Nothing is more valuable. Be a donor. Tell your family.”
