8th Annual Team Heartbrothers Symposium: A Great success

The HeartBrothers Foundation hosted its 8th Annual Team HeartBrothers Symposium December 7-8 in its first-ever hybrid format, with about 75% of in-person attendees and 25% joining via Zoom.

The two-day meeting featured several heart failure specialists and experts.

  • TransMedics' Dr. Mahdy Attia led a presentation detailing TransMedics’ Organ Care System.

  • Massachusetts General Hospital's Dr. Greg Lewis spoke about the increasing use of DCD (Donation after Circulatory Death) hearts in transplants.

  • Cytokinetics' Senior Director of Medical Affairs, Jeanine Cordova, explained all that goes into bringing a new drug to the marketplace.

  • CareDx had three speakers: Nehal Kothari with Cardiothoracic Testing Services offered an overview of CareDx’s mission, Allocare architect Robert Stevenson highlighted Allocare’s newest features, and Patient Advocacy and Engagement lead Alexandra Flaxman presented an overview of CareDx’s patient education resources.

  • Pfizer's Patrick Feron discussed orphan drug research and amyloidosis.

  • New England Donor Services' Ingrid Palacios shared outreach efforts to minority communities.

  • New England Donor Services' Heather Harris addressed the process of supporting donor families.

  • Tufts Medical Center Social Worker Amy DeNuzzio shared how important the HeartBrothers are to her, and new methods to expand patient and family awareness of the HeartBrothers.

Deepest thanks to our generous sponsors, presenters, and all who attended and participated. We're already looking forward to 2023's 9th Annual Team HeartBrothers Symposium!
